Three texts talk about the deposit at checkout and in the cart:
Text | Where buyers see it | Who controls it |
|---|---|---|
Payment plan name | Under each item at checkout, for example "Deposit 50%" | Depositly |
Balance note | On the product page and in the cart | Depositly |
Terms paragraph | Under the payment section at checkout, saying the card will be charged later | Shopify (your theme) |
Where to find it
Depositly → Purchase options → your offer → Appearance → Checkout text

Under Checkout text, edit the Payment plan name. Use the variable buttons to add values, for example
{deposit} deposit - Today.Edit the Balance note, or turn off Show the balance note to remove it.

Click Save.
Leave a field empty to use the built-in wording.
Change Shopify's terms paragraph
This paragraph belongs to Shopify, so it can't be changed in Depositly or on the Translations page.
In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
Click ⋯ next to your theme and choose Edit default theme content.
Open Checkout and system and search for "deferred".
Change the text and click Save.
You'll also find an Edit theme content link under Shopify's own terms text in your offer.
Good to know
Shopify's paragraph has no date variable. The due date already shows above it at checkout.
If you collect the balance by hand, you can reword Shopify's paragraph so it doesn't mention an automatic charge. For example: "The remaining balance is paid when you collect your order."
The text "Remaining balance charged when your order ships" comes from the On fulfillment balance timing. To change it, pick another timing, or change the wording on the Translations page.
