Collect the balance manually

With manual collection, Depositly never charges the buyer's card for the balance. You collect it yourself, for example with cash on delivery or your own invoice. Then you mark it as collected in the app.

Use it when:

• your gateway can't charge cards later, or

• you want to decide yourself when and how the balance is paid.

Where to find it

Depositly → Purchase options → your offer → Offer terms → Balance due date → Collect the balance manually (COD / invoice)

How to set it up

1. Open your offer and go to Offer terms.

2. Under Balance due date, choose A number of days after checkout or On a specific date.

3. Turn on Collect the balance manually (COD / invoice).

4. Optional: on the Appearance tab, set an Order tag like COD so you can spot these orders.

5. Click Save.

When the buyer pays

Go to Orders & balances, find the order and click Mark as collected. You can also mark the order as paid in Shopify.

Good to know

• Manual collection works for deposit plus one balance. For several payments by invoice, use Split payments.

• It can't be used with On fulfillment, because Shopify charges that balance itself.

• In automatic mode, Shopify still saves the card at checkout and shows its own "your card will be charged" text. Depositly won't charge it. To change that text, see Edit the checkout text.

• If you don't want a card saved at all, use Take the balance in person.
