The balance due date decides when the remaining amount is charged or invoiced. It also sets the text buyers see under the widget, for example "Remaining balance charged on 12 Dec".
Where to find it
Depositly → Purchase options → your offer → Offer terms → Balance due date
Your options
Option | When the balance is due | Good for |
|---|---|---|
On a specific date | One date for every order | Pre-orders with a known release date |
A number of days after checkout | For example, 30 days after each order | Made-to-order and custom work |
On fulfillment | When you fulfil the order in Shopify | Items that ship at an unknown time |
A number of days before the pickup date | Counted back from the date the buyer picked | Events, rentals and collection days |
How to set it up
Open your offer and go to Offer terms.
Under When is the remaining balance due?, pick an option.
Enter the date or number of days.
Click Save.
Good to know
On fulfillment: Shopify charges the balance itself as soon as you fulfil the order. You can't stop it with an app setting, so don't fulfil orders you don't want charged. Turn on Collect on the first shipment only if you want the whole balance taken when any part of the order ships.
Before the pickup date: turn on pickup dates first. See Let buyers choose a pickup date.
Draft-order mode can't use "On fulfillment", because a draft order has no fulfillment. Pick a date or a number of days instead.
If you change the timing later, only new orders use it. Existing orders keep their terms.
If you change the payment due date on an order in Shopify, Depositly picks up the new date by itself.
To hold one order's balance, pause it.
