Create your first deposit offer

Set up a basic deposit in a few minutes.

What it is

A deposit offer (we call it a purchase option) adds a "Pay a deposit" choice to your products or cart. The buyer pays the deposit at checkout and the rest later.

Where to find it

Depositly → Purchase options → Create purchase option

How to set it up

  1. Go to Purchase options and click Create purchase option.

  2. On the Offer terms tab, give the offer a name, for example "20% deposit - pre-orders".

  3. Under Deposit, pick Percentage or Fixed amount and enter the value.

  4. Under Balance due date, choose when the rest is paid. For example, A number of days after checkout and 30 days.

  5. Open the Where it applies tab and choose the products under Assign to. For example, Specific products or Whole store.

  6. Make sure the status is Active.

  7. Click Save.

Test it

  1. Open one of the products in your store.

  2. Choose the deposit option and click Add to cart.

  3. Go to checkout. You should see the deposit amount due today.

Tip: In Shopify admin, you can turn on test mode for Shopify Payments to place a test order without real money. Use the test card 4242 4242 4242 4242 with any future date and any security code. Turn test mode off when you're done, because it applies to your whole store.
