Change the order total and refund an overpayment

Update a split order when the final price changes.

Sometimes the final price is only known later, for example after weighing meat. You can change the order total. Open payments are worked out again, and the buyer gets an email.

If the buyer has now paid more than the new total, you can refund the difference in one click. The money goes back to the card that paid it.

Where to find it

Depositly → Split payments → Orders → open the order → Adjust order total or Refund the overpayment

Change the total

  1. Open the split order and click Adjust order total.

  2. Enter the New order total.

  3. Optional: add a note. It's saved in the order's Adjustment history.

  4. If nothing is left open to collect against, choose a due date for the new balance.

  5. Click Save total.

Refund an overpayment

  1. Open the order. An overpaid order shows a banner with the amount.

  2. Click Refund the overpayment.

  3. Pick the payment to refund from and enter the amount.

  4. Click Refund.

Good to know

  • You can't change the total once a split order has stopped collecting payments.

  • A refund you make by hand in Shopify is counted too.

  • Payments you recorded with Mark as paid have no Shopify order, so return that money outside the app.
